Rain sticks emulate the sound of gentle rainfalls. The seeds or pellets filled a portion of a section of bamboo, which when falling interacts with minute stick insertions within the bamboo section to create rain sound. Themodulation of the sound in the rain stick by varying the mass content suggests the possibility of damping due to addition of moving mass. Historically, rain stick is believed to be a divine instrument and its creation represents a unique ancient understanding of acoustical behaviors of frequency modulation. Originated in Chile, tribesmen used rain sticks to serenade the gods in hopes of bringing rain.
When used in my healing session, the effects although producing different effects on each person, almost always transports consciousness, and soothes the mind.
